What is a Pre-Registered Van?

A pre-registered van (often called a pre-reg van) is a brand-new vehicle that has been registered with the DVLA by a dealership, but hasn’t yet been owned or used by a customer.

Here’s how it works and what it means for buyers and dealers:

• Dealers sometimes “pre-register” vans themselves to hit sales targets set by the manufacturer (for bonuses, volume discounts, etc.).
• The van is technically registered, so it has a registration plate and a first owner on record the dealership.
• It’s then sold to customers as a “pre-registered” or “delivery mileage” van, usually with just a few miles on the clock (often under 100).

 Benefits to you

• Discounted price: Because the dealer wants to move the stock quickly, pre-reg vans are cheaper than brand-new ones, and in this case several thousand pounds less.
• Immediate availability: You can drive it away, straight away, rather than waiting for factory build and delivery.
• Full manufacturer warranty: The warranty starts from the date of first registration, so you still get nearly the full warranty period (minus however long ago it was registered).
